Print vendor building relationships

September 8, 2015

From the lower level of Barnes & Noble @ IUPUI bookstore, Miles Printing has been meeting a wide range of campus needs in printing, signage, business cards and more since it came to IUPUI August 2014.

During that time, Miles account executive Cathy Combs has learned a lot about IUPUI and finds herself not only succeeding from the company’s perspective, but building solid relationships with a growing number of schools, offices and other organizations across the campus.

“Being part of a campus is different from the corporate world,” Combs said. “People have been so nice to work with, open to new ideas and filled with ideas of their own that we frankly have enjoyed fulfilling. It is such a great community here; it’s been fun to become a part of that.”

While printing and mailing services are Miles’ bread and butter, Combs said the company has participated in projects that were fun and challenging. “One of the most enjoyable projects involved window clings at the Natatorium, custom-created decals that helped establish a unique atmosphere inside the building. “That helped us be a part of the history of that building,” Combs said. “It had feeling to it, and we got to be part of it.”

Whether campus organizations need such services as printing, mailing, business documents, signage, flyers, video, digital printing or more, Miles finds itself in the business of trying to “say yes” to all requests, Combs noted. “Our job is to help people, to be a good partner. We want to make a difference for them.”
