Health @ IUPUI

February 11, 2014

IUPUI was built by bringing together Indiana University's existing health, law, social work, art, physical education, and extension programs with Purdue University's science, engineering, and technology programs. Because the health programs were both large and long-established they have been at the heart of IUPUI's development from 1969.

IUPUI's commitment to health reaches across the campus--as February illustrates:

  • 2014 is the 100th anniversary of the IU School of Nursing. The year-long celebration includes the Indiana General Assembly recognizing the anniversary on February 18th.
  • The Department of Communication Studies in the School of Liberal Arts is launching the Health Communication Ph.D. program and is accepting applications to Indiana’s first doctorate focused solely on health communication.
  • Congratulations to the IU School of Social Work graduate program recognized in the top 10 in nation for overall value and for their on-line degree being ranked in the top 10 program in the nation.
  • The IU School of Dentistry received a major grant to improve the oral health of soldiers by studying a new antiplaque gum that cleans teeth while soldiers are in the field.
  • The IU McKinney School of Law’s distinguished speakers series is hosting Eli Lilly and Company VP and General Patent Counsel, Douglas K. Norman, to discuss Innovation and "Access to Medicines: TRIPs, Free Trade and Beyond" on February 18th at 5 p.m. in the Wynne Courtroom in Inlow Hall.

From one side of IUPUI to the other, our colleagues are working to enhance heath by translating research into practice each and every day.
