Caring, shopping and noshing round out the final days of the United Way campaign
October 25, 2016
Day of Caring
Hundreds of students, faculty and staff will take to the streets this Saturday, Oct. 29, for the annual United Way Day of Caring. Registration for the Day of Caring is open until Wednesday.
IUPUI and United Way partner each year for a campus campaign, with the goal to raise money that helps the United Way agencies remain operational the rest of the year. The Day of Caring is the service component of the campaign, allowing participants to get out and actually work toward making a difference with one of agencies that help people in Central Indiana.
New this year to the United Way silent auction is the ability to view auction items from the comfort of your computer. Visit and like the IUPUI United Way Campaign Facebook page, and you can see items up for bidding in the auction.
Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31, you may come to the Campus Center Atrium and bid on the items in person. You can also send a friend or co-worker to place your bid; you do not have to be personally present to bid/win the item in the auction. Cash and checks are accepted for winning auction bids. All proceeds benefit United Way of Central Indiana.
Items above are some of the many offered in this year's silent auction. They include a weeklong condo rental in Sanibel Island, handcrafted pottery, wine and coffee baskets, and much more.
Monday also offers a new twist on the final event of the United Way campaign -- introducing the Dessert Showcase, happening at the same time as the silent auction. For a ticket, you can partake of a tasty treat or delicious drink while perusing the auction items. Desserts offered will be fall-inspired. Items offered include caramel apple pie, pumpkin pie, pumpkin cheesecake, candy corn cupcakes, apple dumplings with cinnamon caramel sauce, and butter beer or hot apple cider.
Tickets will cost $5, and each dessert or drink will require one ticket. Cash, check and Jagtag will be accepted. A portion of the proceeds benefits United Way of Central Indiana.
So be sure to bring some cash or your checkbook to the Campus Center Atrium next Monday, Oct. 31, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to bid on some great items and nosh on some tasty desserts.
