Bepko Learning Center receives prestigious Learning Center of Excellence recognition
November 2, 2016
IUPUI's commitment to support student success was recently heralded with the announcement that the Bepko Learning Center has been certified as a Learning Center of Excellence by the National College Learning Center Association, just the third such center to receive that recognition.
The NCLCA uses a rigorous process to recognize outstanding learning centers in higher education, and its certification program is endorsed by the Council of Learning Assistance and Developmental Education Associations. It is the only certification program that recognizes learning centers that have a demonstrated history of excellence and have effectively exceeded the professional standards and best practices in the field of learning assistance.
The Bepko Center has achieved a remarkable track record of success under director Mark Minglin and was well-regarded in the seven major categories used by the NCLCA to evaluate learning centers:
- Programs and services
- Organizational framework
- Academic integrity and learning environment
- Funding, resources and design
- Staff and professional development
- Promotion and public relations
- Assessment and evaluation
The Bepko Learning Center will receive initial certification for three years, through December 2019, and can then apply for renewal in five-year increments. The honor will include a plaque to display at IUPUI and a digital badge for use on campus print and digital media.
