January 17, 2017
Fairbanks School of Public Health Founding Dean Paul Halverson was named as a key advisor by Gov. Eric Holcomb on Jan. 5, as the governor-elect laid out his priorities for the upcoming legislative season at a press conference. Among his priorities is an initiative to fight drug and opioid abuse in Indiana. Halverson will be serving as a senior health advisor to the governor.
"I am honored to serve Governor-elect Holcomb as an advisor for health issues in Indiana," Halverson said upon the announcement. "The health of the people is the foundation to our prosperity as a state. On behalf of the school, we stand ready to support both the governor and the legislature with the health issues that lie ahead."
