Black History Month events

January 31, 2017

Explore African-American heritage and culture with February's Black History Month events at IUPUI and the other IU campuses. The IUPUI calendar unofficially began with the Martin Luther King Jr. Gala dinner and Day of Service in January, but the official kickoff takes place Feb. 1, in the Campus Center Atrium from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

"This week, we kick off the IUPUI observance of Black History Month, a collaborative cross-campus effort to celebrate achievements and remember contributions of African Americans in the history of the United States," said Khalilah Shabazz, director of the Multicultural Center. "Through programs that acknowledge intersectional identities, movies that capture the rich history of blacks in Indianapolis and networking opportunities connecting alumni with current students, the Multicultural Center is proud to support our campus and the community in celebrating Black History Month."
